Save the fundraiser, save fundraising.

How you can really change the world.

Since Ken Burnett introduced the world to the concept of ‘relationship fundraising’ in 1992, the book of the same name has become a timeless classic. It’s inspired fundraisers across the globe to prioritise donor stewardship at the heart of fundraising practice.

In no small way, it transformed the landscape of fundraising and what it means to be a fundraiser.

Ken Burnett is on a mission: to leave a powerful legacy for the fundraising profession.

In 2025, he will be touring Australia – his first speaking tour here in 20 years. Ken will be conducting masterclasses in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, where he will redefine the importance of shifting from transactional, target-driven practices to truly donor-centred relationship fundraising. He will unveil provocative new thinking about what it actually means to be a fundraiser in 2025.

Ken will be joined by Luke Toebelmann (DGB Global), who will share his fundraising insights and Michelle Berriman (Fundraising Next) who will MC the event.

These workshops are about much more than raising money. The workshops are about empowering fundraisers to thrive, to love what they do and to build fulfilling careers.

In particular, Ken will explore two critical challenges facing the sector today: donor attrition and fundraiser turnover. He will demonstrate the way in which addressing these twin evils together will transform fundraising forever.

The masterclass will challenge you to think bigger, act boldly and embrace change.

This is a must-attend for seasoned and up-and-coming fundraisers alike. The masterclasses will also inform, motivate and inspire CEOs, board members and others who need to make wise decisions in the ‘third sector’.

Numbers are strictly limited. Register now.

A signed copy of Ken's book is included with every registration!

Session synopsis: Fundraising is evolving fast

Fundraising evolves. From the churn-and-burn, mail-them-till-they-bleed 1980s to the research-based, donor-based 2020s, fundraising has changed fundamentally, though so far, most of the benefits have yet to filter through, for donors. Now, the pace of change is accelerating and the fundraising landscape ahead is set to change more significantly than ever before, leading to — if we grasp the opportunities, if we get it right — a new era of responsible fundraising and a redefining of the ideal donor experience, ushering in massive benefits for fundraising organisations everywhere. In these sessions we also define common bad fundraising practices and the multiple risks these bring, and the damage they do if allowed to proliferate.

These sessions do more than focus on and define these risks and opportunities. They explore in detail how the necessary shifts will come about, the positive culture changes our for-change organisations need to make, and the massive benefits that will follow in both donor and fundraiser retention and in the growth of net funds raised, to help change the world for the better, for all.

Learning outcomes:

1. Understanding why and how fundraising has to change, and your role in its transformation.

2. Learn how fundraisers can offer their donors and their organisations much more than they do now, and how they themselves can benefit in the process.

3. Learn how to persuade your CEO, SMT and trustee board to enthusiastically buy in to the new era of responsible fundraising.
